My original post (January 28, 2009 - Disintegration - Seth's Project) on this blog about this project allows me to see the difference in aging and disintegration that transpired over eight months. I began to create an art piece as I looked at my aged dictionary pages. Here's what I created using the rolled dictionary pages, the aged dictionary cover, aged and weathered shipping tags, some netting and twine all glued to cardboard (the backing for watercolor paper tablet that I saved).
The tags say: Words Without Knowledge Bind Thinking...I came up with them after completing the binding of the dictionary pages under the netting. I love words and learning and teaching and somehow this art piece speaks to me.

Love your bundle of pages put into the mesh bag (I think). This would made a great guerilla art project, leaving these hanging about in the environment in my neighborhood. Cheers! Not so sure that we east coasters really had it better- it was such a mild winter- and not too much disintegration. But, I loved that you helped your project's weathering along. Great idea! What a wonderful end product from your dictionary. I too love words and love how you integrated the scrolls into your new artwork with the weaving and knots made. Reva - LOVE the tags - but of course, they are one of MY favorites, too. Also like the tie-up. I had to water the heck out of my stuff, too - to get it to disintegrate. Thanks for sharing your Art!
Really like the meaning behind your final bundle. Those rolled pages look like they were meant to be there.
Here in TN, we had a very mild winter... would have done better to have hung the bundle now when its raining all the time!But Mother Nature will do her thing as she wants!

Wow, I feel kind of ..... rolled up and tied up. This is a wonderful and beautiful piece. My art mind perceives it as a piece about frustrated silence. Hmmmm, maybe that has to do with something in my personal life.
I really like what you did with the string or twine. Wouldn't it be really cool to make it big, so each word is a 4-foot long scroll.
